What is commercial, and how you can tell
Readers should never have to guess whether something was paid for. This page explains exactly how to tell.
What partner content is
Partner content is anything ClubCXO produces or publishes as part of a commercial relationship. That includes Executive Spotlight, Leadership Story and any sponsored insight, conversation or partnership with an organisation.
If money changed hands, it is partner content, regardless of who wrote it or how editorial the result looks.
How it is labelled
Every piece of partner content carries a visible label at the top of the page and on every card that links to it.
- Partner Feature — commissioned through Executive Spotlight or Leadership Story.
- Sponsored — paid placement written or supplied by the sponsor.
- Contributed — written by a named executive, not commissioned commercially.
- No label — independent ClubCXO editorial.
What a partner controls
A partner reviews their own feature for factual accuracy before publication and can correct errors of fact. They can decline to answer a question, and they can withdraw before publication.
- Partners approve factual accuracy in their own feature.
- Partners do not approve, review or receive advance sight of ClubCXO’s independent editorial.
- Partners cannot request removal or amendment of independent coverage of themselves or competitors.
- Partners cannot buy placement in Leadership Moves, or influence its selection.
Separation from editorial
Commercial conversations are handled separately from the editorial desk. A live or past commercial relationship is not a reason to cover an organisation, and it is not a reason to avoid covering one.
Where an organisation is both a partner and the subject of independent coverage, the coverage says so.
What we decline
We do not accept work that requires us to present commercial content as independent editorial, to remove a disclosure label, to guarantee a tone or conclusion in independent coverage, or to publish claims we cannot substantiate.
