About
Priya Raghavan is chief technology officer at Kavach Cloud, an Indian infrastructure provider serving regulated industries with data-residency requirements. She joined in 2023 from a global hyperscaler, where she had run a regional platform reliability organisation.
Her mandate at Kavach has been narrower than the title suggests: make the platform auditable. Roughly half her engineering organisation works on control-plane observability, compliance tooling and evidence generation, because the company’s customers are banks and hospitals whose procurement cycles turn on documentation rather than benchmarks.
Raghavan writes an internal postmortem digest that circulates to the full engineering group, unredacted, and has resisted pressure to summarise it for the board. She has said that the moment incident reports become a management artefact, engineers stop writing the useful sentences.
Leadership perspective
- What does “enterprise-ready” actually mean in India right now?
- Evidence. Not uptime — evidence of uptime, in a format a regulator will accept. We lost two deals on documentation before I understood that was the product.
- Why circulate postmortems unedited?
- Because the useful part of a postmortem is the sentence someone was slightly embarrassed to write. Edit for an audience and that sentence is the first one to go.
