Meridian Bank has appointed Ananya Iyer as chief financial officer, effective 14 August 2026. Iyer has served as deputy chief financial officer and head of treasury since 2022 and is the first woman to hold the CFO role at the bank.
The bank’s loan book is weighted towards small-business credit, a segment that has grown faster than its deposit franchise for six consecutive quarters. Iyer’s treasury mandate over the past four years has been to extend the liability profile and reduce dependence on bulk deposits, work that the bank has cited in its own disclosures as the reason for a lower cost-of-funds trajectory than its immediate peers.
Career before the role
Iyer spent the first decade of her career on the sell side as a financials analyst at Arka Capital, later running the firm’s investor relations function. She joined Meridian in 2022. She has been unusually public for an Indian bank finance executive about provisioning methodology, publishing a quarterly note on how the coverage ratio is constructed — a practice she has argued should be sector standard rather than a differentiator.
She succeeds a chief financial officer who held the role for nine years and is retiring. The bank said the handover had been planned since the start of the financial year and that Iyer would continue to oversee treasury until a successor is named.
